Did you know that Thai Marriage Visa is the short version of a 1-Year Extension of Stay Based on Marriage?

A marriage visa is normally sought by foreigners under the age of 50 years old, as over that age many people prefer to obtain a retirement visa which is slightly easier to obtain.

• The first thing to know is that Thai law allows any foreigner married to a Thai to apply and obtain (also met certain requirements) a Marriage Visa, and thus can extend their stay in the country by one year! One year in Pattaya without having to leave the country.

• One thing important is that if you have to renew after one year, you don`t need to do a visa run, you can renew the visa in Thailand. So, no more trips to neighboring countries.

You can work legally because a work permit will be easy to get. You will be able to sustain your family and work. Pretty good, right?!

These steps can be tricky for many, so we hope writing in this way we make it simple and clear!

1. To apply for a Marriage Visa, you must have a 90-day non-immigrant visa from your home country/residence. You can also obtain this type of visa from neighboring countries of Thailand.

2. Then you need to come to Thailand and activate the visa before those 90 days expire

3. Be prepared to have all the needed documents to change your status from a non-immigrant O visa to a marriage visa.

4. The status will change and you will get your Marriage Visa in the last 30 days out of the 90 days received

Important things you must know and do once we get your Marriage Visa in Pattaya and want it to maintain active!

90-day Reporting

Even if you are married to a Thai it doesn`t mean you are a permanent resident or have the same opportunities as a citizen. You still have to report every 90 days at the immigration office close to your home, your home address.

Re-entry permit

Unfortunately, if you plan to travel abroad, even with your Thai family you need a re-enter permit to come back. If you plan to leave Thailand in the year of the visa’s validity, you must obtain a permit to re-enter the country before exiting the country. As well as 90-days reporting, you can make a formal request for a re-entry permit in Thailand at the Immigration Office located at the shortest distance away from your home. If you do not do this, your visa will be canceled.

Bank Account And Renew

Renewing your Marriage Visa is the same as applying for a new one! You will be able to continue another year with a Marriage Visa by submitting the same documents and taking the same route as the first time. The amount in the bank account essential in the requirements must be in your account preference to 3 months before you can submit your document for a renew. So, make sure you have a deposit with this money in advance.

What happens if the marriage no longer works and a divorce is imminent?

If you decide to divorce, your Marriage Visa will become invalid and you will be asked to leave Thailand. There are also exceptional situations when you don`t become a problem and you can stay in Thailand until your Marriage Visa expire. But only after you discuss and clarify your situation with Immigration officials.

      Guten Tag,
      Mfg
